We chose Shutters of San Mateo on the recommendation of our contractor. From his first visit, we knew Ed Arceo, owner of the company, was the right choice. He was thoroughly knowledgeable, professional and timely. He helped us choose the best type of opening for each window type. His price quote was very reasonable. We had other work being done at the time and were worried about the installation perhaps damaging some of the new walls, flooring , etc. but we need not have been concerned. Except for very minor paint touch up in one or two areas, the installation was debris free, damage free and very efficient. In a five star rating system, Ed’s work was a solid 5.

I’m happy to report that my family and friends who have seen the new shutters are almost as excited about them as I am. They look and function better than I had ever expected which I attribute to your taking the necessary time during the initial and followup visits to make sure we figured out which windows would be better suited to exterior or interior mount since my windows in the older part were different than in the newer addition. Also consideration had to be given to preserving the new decorative framing installed with my recent remodeling project. In addition, as you know, I had three other bids. Two were priced close to your quote and one considerably more costly but one of the two competitively priced vendors had simply handed me a quote on the back of a business card with no discussion about the type of mounting or the supplemental trim to match the new decorative framing. The other competitively priced vendor just didn’t seem to devote the attention during the preliminary visit to work out the details as you did. As an retired Engineer who spent a lifetime focusing on the quality of the details, I knew from the questions you asked and options you presented, I would not have to worry about the quality of the custom design you were proposing. I also respected your openness and obvious truthfulness about the work you were planning and the options available. I remember the day you arrived to do the installation. I’m sure your also recall, that after the first window was completed, I was absolutely thrilled about the installation from a functional and appearance standpoint. After dealing with numerous difficulties during the recent remodel, I remember thinking that finally, I could get excited about this last aspect of the home upgrades I had installed.
